Always inspiring, I love photographing the lively students at Portland College in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire.

This year, the incoming Lord Lieutenant of Nottinghamshire, Sir John Peace, presented the awards. I was struck by his keen fascination for the stories of the students and his willingness to jump out of his seat to make contact with the student he was giving the award to - both physically and mentally.
